Some lines occasioned by the failure of his home town to rhyme

David Barlow

A certain poet and gentleman
lived in a town called Cheltenham.
He said, “it is such a great pity
that nothing quite rhymes with my city.”
and so - willynilly -
he moved to Caerphilly

Cheltenham in Gloucestershire is indeed very hard to rhyme with. It is better known for its annual horse racing meet, its famous girls' school, and for being a genteel Regency spa town.
